Are you living in Scare City?

A powerful practice at play in our world today, is scarcity. In my book: You're Not a Nail, the 7 Business Practices that Kill Innovation, I broke it up into two words deliberately as the result of the practice tends to generate fear-based responses as it tends to trigger survival reactions. And there is a distinct place to where we end up when the practice triggers that survival instinctive response. It has the feeling of being caught in a space where our decisions are based on fear and instinct and are not necessarily in our best interests for the achievement of our dreams or enabling us to be all that we can be. As a matter of fact, these interests are usually put on the back burner when we are in that particular place and are the very last consideration for options available.

What I find intriguing about this practice is that we actually tend to enjoy being there as we jump into it quickly, invite others to join us, discuss it with a variety of groups, even have formalized settings and communities that lobby to keep in place. So what is the result? Why do we react this way and what's in it for us when we do react this way?
